A long-established wine producer in Germany faced the challenge of excessive wastewater volumes from production, which were overloading the municipal treatment plant. Under regulatory pressure, the company needed to take immediate action. In cooperation with FlexBio, successful trials were first conducted using a mobile pilot plant before a full-scale solution was implemented.
The installation features an anaerobic wastewater treatment module, complemented by gas cleaning, gas storage, and energy recovery from biogas in a combined heat and power (CHP) unit. This setup significantly reduces the organic load in the wastewater while generating renewable energy for the company’s own operations.
The installed system represents the first expansion stage, with additional modules already planned to further increase capacity, strengthen long-term supply security, and advance the company’s sustainability strategy.
