A traditional private brewery in Bavaria faced the challenge that the municipal wastewater treatment plant could no longer handle the large volumes of wastewater generated by beer production. Under regulatory pressure, the company had to implement a sustainable solution quickly to ensure long-term production stability.
In the first expansion stage, two anaerobic wastewater treatment modules were installed, complemented by gas cleaning, gas storage, and the utilization of the produced biogas in a combined heat and power (CHP) unit. This setup significantly reduced the organic wastewater load while simultaneously generating electricity and heat for in-house use.
The system is modular in design and prepared for future expansion. An additional three modules are already planned to increase capacity and further strengthen the company’s long-term sustainability strategy.
