At Andreas Mehli’s facility in Chur, highly loaded process water from the Hydrothermal Carbonization (HTC) process is treated efficiently using anaerobic technology. The HTC process converts biomass under pressure and high temperature into a coal-like material and highly contaminated water within just a few hours – a transformation that would otherwise take millions of years in nature.
The key challenge of this project lies in the extremely high organic load of the process water – a demanding task where FlexBio’s expertise truly excels. In collaboration with GRegio Energie AG (founded by Andreas Mehli), FlexBio installed modular systems for anaerobic digestion, gas purification, and gas storage, enabling the generated biogas to be effectively utilized.
This project not only marks a technical milestone but also represents the foundation of a strong partnership with Mehli: from a successfully completed project emerged the founding of GRegio Energie AG, now serving as FlexBio’s official representative in Switzerland.
