A farm in Lower Saxony with around 200 dairy cows relies on an efficient integration of livestock farming and energy production. Alongside modern dairy management, the focus is on utilizing organic residues for sustainable energy generation.
A conventional biogas plant was installed, featuring a completely mixed reactor with solid feed-in for manure and slurry. The system is complemented by gas purification, gas storage, and the utilization of the produced biogas in a combined heat and power (CHP) unit with an output of 75 kWₑₗ.
This setup not only improves the farm’s economic efficiency but also makes a valuable contribution to climate protection.
