The Fraunhofer Institute UMSICHT in Oberhausen has acquired a modular FlexBio system that serves both in-house research projects and as a mobile demonstration unit for potential industrial users. This allows FlexBio’s wastewater and biogas technology to be tested under real operating conditions and demonstrated directly within the industry.
The system includes a wastewater treatment module, a biogas storage unit, a complete gas upgrading system housed in a 40-foot container, and a biogas flare. The mobile setup is currently being used successfully in food industry applications, particularly in delicatessen production and dairy processing. This enables the benefits of the FlexBio technology to be showcased directly in ongoing operations, supported by scientific monitoring and evaluation.
