A major dairy producer in southern Germany processes large volumes of milk every day into a wide range of products for the retail market. As production capacity increases, so does the challenge of treating wastewater streams sustainably and cost-effectively. To conserve resources while unlocking new energy potential, the first expansion stage was implemented in cooperation with FlexBio.
A compact module for anaerobic wastewater treatment was installed, complemented by modern gas purification, a gas storage unit, and biogas utilization in a combined heat and power (CHP) unit. The system efficiently converts the organic load of the wastewater into biogas, generating both electricity and heat directly for the plant’s operations. In the next phase, several additional modules are planned to further enhance the performance and scalability of the entire wastewater treatment system.
