A traditional private brewery, repeatedly recognized as a climate-neutral brewery, faced the challenge of excessive wastewater volumes that were overloading the municipal treatment plant. Under regulatory pressure, the company had to implement a solution quickly.
In the first expansion stage, a FlexBio anaerobic wastewater treatment module was installed, complemented by gas cleaning, gas storage, and the energetic utilization of the produced biogas in a boiler. This setup significantly reduces the organic wastewater load while simultaneously generating thermal energy for the brewery’s operations.
The system is modular in design and prepared for future expansion. An additional three modules are already planned to increase capacity and strengthen the company’s long-term sustainability strategy.
