A traditional cheese producer in Switzerland faced a significant challenge: the local municipal wastewater treatment plant had become severely overloaded due to high wastewater volumes from production. Under regulatory pressure, the company needed a sustainable and high-performance solution within a short timeframe. After successful pilot testing with a mobile FlexBio unit, the decision was made to install a full-scale system.
A compact modular anaerobic wastewater treatment system was implemented, complemented by gas purification, biogas storage, and biogas utilization via a boiler and gas burner. This system significantly relieves the municipal infrastructure, reduces operating costs, and efficiently converts organic wastewater streams into thermal energy. As a result, the company not only met all regulatory requirements but also strengthened its sustainability strategy and set a clear example of environmentally responsible production.
